Amethyst, for you

Amethyst meets a Pisces moon gently — but in a Saturn season it can pull you too far inward.

i.Best for

  • Sleep & rest. Placed by the bed, it's the classic stone for quieting a racing mind at night.
  • Easing anxiety. Held during slow breathing, a calm anchor when feelings run high.
  • Intuition & clarity. Worked with at the third eye in meditation, it's traditionally used to deepen insight.
  • Gentle protection. A soft boundary stone — protective without feeling heavy.

ii.How to use it

Wear it as a ring or pendant on calm days when you want to stay even. Place it in the bedroom, on a meditation cushion, or on an altar. Hold it to the chest or third eye during ninety slow seconds of breath.

There is no single right way. Pick the one that fits your day — the practice matters more than the method.

A gentle caution: leaned on too heavily, amethyst can deepen introspection into withdrawal. On flat, low days, pair it with an activating stone like citrine or carnelian.

iii.Real or fake?

How to know yours is genuine

Most natural amethyst is genuine and affordable — but two things are worth knowing. Much pale amethyst is heat-treated to deepen its colour or turn it into citrine, and very cheap "amethyst" beads can be dyed glass.

Real amethyst is cool to the touch, shows uneven natural colour zoning (not a flat, perfect purple), and rates 7 on the Mohs scale — glass scratches far more easily. It also fades in direct sunlight, so charge it by moonlight, not on a sunny sill.

v.Questions

What is amethyst good for?
Traditionally, amethyst is used for calm, sleep, intuition, and easing anxiety. It's associated with the third eye and crown chakras and is one of the gentlest stones to start a practice with.
Who should not wear amethyst?
There's no one who "can't" wear amethyst — it's very gentle. But if you're feeling flat, foggy, or withdrawn, its inward pull may not be what you need that day; reach for an energising stone instead. Listen to how you feel with it.
Can amethyst go in the sun or water?
Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight — amethyst fades. Brief water contact is fine (it's a hard 7 on the Mohs scale), but don't soak it for long. Moonlight is the kinder way to cleanse and charge it.
I don't feel anything holding it. Am I doing it wrong?
Not at all. Not everyone feels crystal energy as a physical sensation — many notice their attention or mood shifting instead, which counts just as much. There's no wrong way to begin.
